A long sniffy walk, a trail, a picnic or a special event can be every bit as worthwhile as an hour of off-leash play.
Regina has parks and pathways where leashed dogs are welcome, plus nearby trails and occasional dog-specific community events.

These are primarily on-leash outings. Dog-park rules do not follow you into ordinary parks, pathways or natural areas.
Urban Park
One of Regina’s best dog-and-human walking outings. Wascana Centre requires pets to be leashed and cleaned up after.
Important exception: dogs are not permitted in the Habitat Conservation Area. Respect wildlife and stay on appropriate paths.

Wascana Centre identifies its 10.51-kilometre Trans Canada Trail route as dog friendly. It winds through the park on paved, gravel and crushed-stone surfaces.
Dogs remain subject to Wascana’s leash and cleanup requirements.

The Wascana Valley Natural Area Recreation Site, commonly called Wascana Trails, offers roughly 15 kilometres of hiking and multi-use trails northwest of Regina.
Dog walking is permitted, but dogs must remain leashed at all times.

The City says dogs are allowed in City parks when leashed, currently licensed and handled in accordance with the Animal Bylaw, including cleaning up after them.
That opens up far more options than the designated off-leash parks when what you want is simply a walk, picnic or change of scenery.

Regina has more than 120 kilometres of pathways. The City specifically asks pet owners to keep pets leashed, maintain control and clean up after them.
Remember that these are shared routes. Stay aware of bicycles, runners, skaters and other pathway users.

Regina’s annual end-of-season Dog Swim is scheduled to return in September 2026. Registration is required, and participating dogs must meet the City’s eligibility requirements.

Wascana Centre, Victoria Park and other public spaces host markets, festivals, performances and special events. Organizers may impose rules that are more restrictive than the normal park rules.
Before bringing your dog into a crowd, check the event’s own information. Even where dogs are allowed, noise, heat, food, children and heavy foot traffic may make staying home the better choice for some dogs.
